Washington extended an offer to 2017 three-star Sacramento (Calif.) Sheldon wide receiver Alex Cook on Sunday night. Having taken an unofficial visit to UW back in November 2015, it was an offer that the NorCal prospect had been dreaming of getting for months.

"For sure an offer I've been dreaming about for a long time," Cook told Rivals.com on Sunday night. "I love how I feel comfortable there and the atmosphere is what I expect from my dream school."

Washington wide receivers coach Bush Hamdan made the offer to Cook and explained how vital his role could be as a Husky. With only signing two wide receivers - Aaron Fuller and Jordan Chin - in its 2016 recruiting class, Washington is looking for at least two play-making receivers in '17.

At 6'2, 180-pounds, Cook feels he fits the ideal mold that Hamdan is searching. On the flip side, Washington fits what Cook is looking for.

"He broke down the reality of their situation at the receiver position," Cook said of his conversation with Hamdan. "And that they need a big time player for that position. He said I could be that person . . . That's the type of player I want to be. A playmaker and for him to put me in that position makes it that much [more] intriguing."

Cook said Washington and UCLA, both schools who have offered, are 50/50 at the top of his list and the three-star prospect doesn't see that changing. Both schools will get an official visit from Cook and he will make his decision after concluding both trips.
