VIDEO & Evaluation: 2018 UW QB Commit Jacob Sirmon on Upcoming Season

Rivals.com spoke with 2018 four-star Bothell (Wash.) pro-style quarterback Jacob Sirmon following the 2016 MayMadness event at Foster High School. The sophomore Washington commit broke down his performance and upcoming season at Bothell...

On MayMadness performance..."Yeah it was great. We had a lot of good receivers - a lot of competition. Tracy Ford bring a lot of top guys from the region. My mentality kind of coming in was just got to compete, never want to big-time it. But I really felt comfortable with some of the dudes. I could play with them in 7-on-7 and I know them from camps and what not. So just come out and compete and do my best."

On throwing a lot to 2017 UW commit Connor Wedington..."Yeah it's great. I know him personally from outside of football as well as during football. We played on a couple 7 on 7 teams together and we have a chemistry built obviously on the field. Then when both of us committed to Washington it's fun to expand that network of UDub commits around here, so I enjoy that a lot."

On recruitment..."We talk to some schools around the town, but right now it's Washington and focusing on my Bothell school. Brining the Bothell guys together and getting ready to go deep in the playoffs this year."

On summer plans..."A lot of that is up in their air. Depends on what my team is doing. All my focus is Bothell High School guys and getting them out throwing in some 7-on-7 and what not."

On preparing for his junior year..."Yeah you know we have nearly everyone returning from last year so we have a lot of built in chemistry already. The receivers are looking good, our linemen we're returning everyone so we're looking big. Coaching staff is great, really bonding together. Been talking with them about our playbook and feeling pretty comfortable about that. I look forward to it. There's going to be some competition in the KingCo but I'm feeling like we're going to go pretty deep."

On goals for the upcoming season..."Currently I'm 6'4, 220 [and] hoping to push to 225 and start the season off there. Physically body wise just continue lifting and working out with Tracy and my Bothell High School football team when we lift in the morning. Just trying to be fit, be as peak condition as I can for the season."

On recruiting his cousin Jack Sirmon..."We're talking to him. We're trying to get him up to Washington. We'd love to have him. He's busy with a lot of his football stuff down in California but we're pushing for him at Washington."

Evaluating 2018 four-star Bothell (Wash.) pro-style quarterback Jacob Sirmon

After measuring in at 6'4, 220-pounds, Sirmon looked composed and focused surrounded by several other quality quarterbacks from around the Pacific Northwest. A lot of the quarterback drills were focused on throwing to receivers in 1-on-1 competition, in addition to 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 without the quarterbacks being hit.

Throughout the day Sirmon threw a consistent spiral and for only a sophomore, becoming a junior in the fall, he made several throws of at least 30-yards look easy. The touch was there on throws that it needed to be and velocity on intermediate routes. In the camp-like setting it was a strong showing for Sirmon, but the crucial part in his development will be taking information from his 7-on-7 experiences and translating that into game situations.

Sirmon is already one of the top quarterbacks in the 2018 class but there is still room for development and having another two full seasons at Bothell High School will help him reach where he needs to be heading into Washington.
